Press Release

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - AMERINGER | McENERY | YOHE is pleased to announce its first solo exhibition of paintings by David Allan Peters. The exhibition will open on 25 April and will remain on view through 25 May 2013. A reception for the artist will take place 25 April between 6:00 and 8:00 PM.

Tiny cuts and spherical caverns of color radiate across the surface to reveal kaleidoscopic layers of acrylic paint. Applying layer upon layer, color after color, alternating between different shades of paint. David Allan Peters gradually builds each painting before cutting, scraping, and carving into the surface.

In these works, Peters explores the boundaries of acrylic paint. Employing severs and scrapes as gestures; he excavates and creates three-dimensional paintings that mark the passage of time. The days, weeks, months over which each painting grows and matures is captured in the alternating colors. As a tree's lifespan is counted by its rings, time is revealed in these paintings through each individual layer.

David Allan Peters was born in Cupertino, California, in 1969. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, CA, and his Master of Fine Arts degree from Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, CA.

He has had numerous solo exhibitions including "Super Optic," Chandra Cerrito Contemporary, Oakland, CA, and "David Allan Peters," Royale Projects, Indian Wells, CA. Peters' work will be the subject of an upcoming solo exhibition at the Lancaster Museum of Art and History in Lancaster, CA.
