On Wednesday, 7 May, Miles McEnery Gallery hosted a benefit dinner in support of Studio in a School. The occasion served as the inaugural Studio Salon, a new series of intimate conversations with contemporary artists, benefitting visual arts education in New York City's public schools.
Spanning three decades and New York City's five boroughs, Studio in a School brings high-quality, comprehensive art classes and collaborative staff support to public schools that would otherwise not have an arts program. Since its foundation in 1977 by philanthropist Agnes Gund, Studio in a School has served over 800,000 children, from 4-year-olds to 24-year-olds.
The evening included an intimate seated dinner featuring a conversation between artist Beverly Fishman, on the occasion of her new solo exhibition, and Phong Bui, Studio in a School Board of Directors member and Co-Founder of The Brooklyn Rail. The event granted an advanced preview of Fishman’s exhibition, which opened to the public the following evening, remaining on view through 21 June 2025.
