Marilyn Lerner (b. 1942 in Milwaukee, WI) received her BS from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI, and her MFA from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY.

Lerner has been the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, including a Fulbright Scholarship to India administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars, Washington, D.C.; National Endowment for the Arts Painting Fellowship, Washington, D.C.; CAPS (Creative Artists Public Service Program) Painting Fellowships, New York, NY; Individual Artist Program support from the New York State Council on the Arts, New York, NY; Drawing Fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts, New York, NY; and a BAU Institute Fellowship at the Camargo Foundation, Cassis, France.
